Fun Run® Show & Shine Judging Information

Welcome to the 27th Annual Historic Route 66 Fun Run®. As the Chairperson for the last 14 years, I continue to listen carefully to the feedback we receive from the Show & Shine participants, and have used these comments to continually make improvements to the event. With more than 800 participants arriving at the Show & Shine in Kingman on Saturday afternoon (in just about any vehicle on wheels), you can imagine the challenge of parking the vehicles, establishing the Route 66 Show & Shine categories, and ensuring all registered vehicle are judged appropriately to be ready for the awards ceremony on Sunday.

I commend the 20+ judges who take very seriously the task of ensuring that every vehicle registered in the Fun Run® is judged. The process of becoming familiar with the entries begins on Friday as registrants arrive in Seligman, and as they travel Route 66 and arrive in Kingman on Saturday. The actual judging does not begin until 3 p.m. on Saturday and continues until 5 p.m. All vehicles must remain in their spot until 5 p.m. to ensure proper judging. Please note: A sticker placed on a vehicle is not an indication that the vehicle has been judged.

The following addresses some of the most frequently asked questions on how the parking and judging works:

  • Only participants who pay for a full registration are eligible to be judged.
  • We do not segregate parking by vehicle categories because many people enjoy being around friends regardless of the vehicle they are in.
  • All registered vehicles will be judged. Where you are parked will not impact the judging of your vehicle.
  • The Show & Shine encompasses the entire area of the street closure and not just in front of the Powerhouse.
  • Parking is first come, first served.
  • We do not reserve spaces for vehicles or groups, nor can anyone hold a spot for anyone else. Those wanting to be parked together must arrive at the Show & Shine entrance at the same time.
  • Again, if you want your car judged, you must remain in your spot until 5 p.m.

I look forward to another great Fun Run® and welcome your comments to help us continually improve the event for everyone participating. Please direct questions or comments to Jan Davis, the Association’s Director of Operations, at 928-753-5001, or stop in to the Powerhouse Gift Shop.
